„În marele aranjament al vieții, statura lui Halep
o plasează drept luptătorul cu șanse mai mici în confruntarea cu majoritatea
adversarelor ei [uriașe, observația mea, G.F.], printre care se numără și acei
demoni supărători dinlăuntru.

Este cu neputință să găsim în media românească o
observație apropiată ca inteligență, bun simț și realism de cuvintele lui
Harvey Araton de la NYT.
Ca orice dar veritabil, Simona Halep este unul
neașteptat și nemeritat. Românii sînt ospitalieri doar cu străinii, și așa
ne-am putea explica de ce Simona Halep nu este doar neașteptată și nemeritată,
ci și de ce este prost primită în țară, de ce refuzăm acest dar. N-o putem iubi
pentru că nu ne putem iubi. Nu ne putem iubi pentru că nu am plecat din țară,
pentru că nu ne-am întors, pentru că ne-am întors, dar nu ne aștepta nimeni.
Pentru că nimeni nu mai așteaptă pe nimeni nicăieri, pentru că nu mai așteptăm
pe nimeni.
Ne urîm pentru că sîntem aici, ne urîm pentru că
nu sîntem aici, ne urîm pentru că sîntem nicăieri. Tocmai de aceea o urîm pe
Simona, pentru că ea este dincolo: dincolo de limitele noastre, dincolo de tot
ce putem urî neputînd iubi. Victoriile și înfrîngerile ei relevă nimicul
victoriilor și înfrîngerilor noastre.
O urîm pentru că indiferent dacă învinge sau
pierde, luptă cu demonii dinlăuntrul ei și al nostru. O urîm pentru că luptă
într-o vreme în care toți se pupă în piața endependenți în timp ce-și vîră
reciproc și patriotic cuțitul în spate.
Educată de o elită arogantă, media românească nu
gîndește decît în termenii aroganței:

Dar ce este arogant aici? Kanepi era surprinsă să
vadă că lumea ține cu numărul unu, cînd în mod normal ar fi trebuit să țină cu
ea:

support, “I was thinking about that — why are they cheering for her so much, because
normally they cheer for the underdog,” she said. It was a bit annoying for some
time but I got over it.” [2]
Nu înțeleg unde este aroganța. Kanepi pare doar
nedumerită. Nu cred că va înțelege vreodată faptul evident că, în acel meci,
ea, Kanepi, a fost favorita.
Totul a recomandat-o pe Kanepi: statura, miza
meciului și, mai ales, locul. Pentru Kanepi, “I love playing here in New York.
I have always loved it,” Kanepi enthused. “I think the courts suit my game, and
I love being in New York.I like the city. I like the atmosphere in tournaments

Dimpotrivă, pentru Simona Halep, „Maybe the noise
in the crowd, the city is busy, everything together,’’ Halep said. “I’m a quiet
person, maybe I like smaller places. I don’t really feel 100 percent on my game

Observația contrazice citatele preluate interesat
din articolul din NYT reluat pe larg în presa din românica (România rămîne
retrasă pe liniile de apărare tradiționale, Oituz-Nămoloasa-Baba Rada), unde se
sublinia că:
„Halep did not cite fatigue, despite runs in
consecutive weeks this month to the finals in the Rogers Cup and Western &
Southern Open, winning the former and losing the latter before withdrawing from
last week’s event in Connecticut. She did not blame the noisy conditions in the
otherwise well-received Armstrong Stadium, where open-air walkways and
concessions create a continuous din. She did admit that, for whatever reason,
“I never play my best tennis” in New York.
True to character, honest as usual in her
post-match confessional, Halep suggested it was more the voices in her head
that most contributed to the dismal end to a Grand Slam season that began with
a heart-wrenching defeat to Caroline Wozniacki in the final of the Australian
Open and a long-awaited breakthrough title at the French Open over Sloane Stephens.“Yeah,
nerves,” she before adding with a guilty-as-charged smile, “because I’m born

Pînă la urmă totul se reduce la emoții sau la faptul
că ești om?
"It's always about the nerves," Halep
said afterward. "Even when you are there on top, you feel the same nerves.
You are human, so it's the same thing [at every tournament]."
All too human, in Halep's case.
But that's one of the reasons the 5-foot-6
Romanian is such a favorite with fans. She'll run and fight until she drops,
but has never quite mastered her emotions or snuffed out a lingering streak of
negativity.
"For me, it's more difficult in the first
rounds," she admitted. "Because I'm more emotional. That's why I need
a good start."
Este greu să cîștigi într-o lume în care toți
ceilalți nu vor decît să fie ori mai prejos de om, ori mai presus de om. Simona
Halep luptă să rămînă om, iar acesta este un lucru care a devenit de neînțeles
pentru cei mai mulți dintre noi, zombi. Cînd ești om, totul contează: sîngele,
locul, timpul, lumea dinlăuntrul și dinafara ta. Doar atunci cînd ai
devenit mai mult sau mai puțin decît un om, singurul lucru care contează este
să cîștigi.
Cu aproape trei luni în urmă îmi declaram admirația
pentru Simona Halep ca ființă umană, ca demonstrație de umanitate într-o arenă

Sigur că marile amfiteatre de astăzi nu riscă,
precum Colosseumul antic, o confruntare directă cu sufletul omului. Pentru
mulți dintre oamenii de astăzi, dintre care unii îndrăznesc totuși să se considere
creștini, tot ce ai de făcut într-o asemenea arenă este să cîștigi trofeul.
Pentru unii dintre oamenii din vechime însă, miza
întrecerii era să rămîi cu sufletul întreg, după cum observă inspirat cineva:

glamorous and noisy - it's very human, with a lot of ups and downs, simple and
transparent, which is so rare in today's world of fame and showing off. But the
most important thing I was impressed with her is HER BELIEF. She knows the
taste of true belief. That makes her more present in every moment. That gives her

I admire her for the way she simply humbles herself although she has so many
reasons to be "proud" and loud.
